EXPO 2020 DUBAI

The youth should play a key part in this mega event and get opportunities to observe, learn and contribute creative ideas so they can develop innovative solutions for creating a better future for our region and our world.

As adults, we can look back on our lives and, in contemplation, remember times when moments of inspiration and wonder touch our hearts and souls. For me, three moments stand out, the first was my first journey back to Rome, the city of my birth, after 40 years, where, standing on the Pincian Hill, a glorious vista of Rome in her all her ancient and modern glory opened up to me. …I was humbled by her beauty.
The second, standing on an outcrop, a viewing platform, with Uluru, (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta, (The Olgas), ancient rock formations with spiritual significance to the First Peoples of Australia, emblazoned in the deep rust and ochre’ colors of this ancient heart of Australia, by the setting sun. An artist’s installation… ‘A Field of Lights’, each bulb, slowly igniting in synchrony with an ever deepening black, purple sky, mirroring the field of stars exposed in the deep depth of the sky as the sun bade good-bye to the day… My breath was taken away.
The third, standing at the base of the Burj Khalifa, Dubai, the Fountains dancing to the evening song, a hot August night, a press of humanity rapt in the moment …. And I marveling at the genius of the architects and engineers who built this edifice, a symbol of this country’s symbiotic embrace of ancient and modern culture, and of creativity and innovation… My mind marveled.
And so, to the present… at this time in this place, the gift of opportunity that has been placed before us all… the gift of the Dubai 2020 Expo. In the presence of Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, I witnessed Mr Hani Raydan, our CEO, sign our commitment to partner with, and be active participants of the Dubai 2020 Expo.
We are very proud to be a part of the Expo 2020 School Leadership Programme as fully participative and supporting school, therefore, this presents us with a life-time opportunity, providing our children with myriad experiences and opportunities to marvel, wonder, create, dream and be inspired by this magnificent and visionary event. As our children embark on, experience and explore the ‘Four Unique Journeys’ of
• The Universe in motion
• The Sustainable Planet
• The Legacy of the UAE
• The World of opportunities…
We wish that our children, may have, as the Poet David Whyte eloquently stated, … everything … inscribed across the heavens so that … (they), may find the one line already written inside …(them).
May this one line be the continuing wonder and power of our children’s dreams and aspirations, inspired by what is to come.
